More Small Businesses Opening Than Closing According To….

I had a really interesting chat with the contractor who changes terminals for companies that have credit card machines.

He came round to change an old model with an new and improved one.

Well we got talking as you do… and he asked me how things were. I said business is ok, could be better but that’s the situation we find ourselves in, so we have to work a little harder than we have done in the past twelve months.

Me being polite asked him, (now he came out with something really interesting) how things were for him. He said he’s been rushed off his feet.

Normally in January things are quiet. But this month it’s been manic. He’d been driving up and down the M1 (that’s a motorway or highway as you call it in the states) around the M25 and every major route you can think of delivering and installing new terminals.

So I questioned him further.

What types of businesses are you installing for. All types he said. From one man band businesses to medium. But there has definately been an increase in small businesses taking new terminals to take purchases.

About 78% of all his installs are for the new start, small business owner.

If you listen to the media… the world is about to end… and we’re all doomed. But the reality of it, is that people are still moving forward despite what the media says and are selling.

It never occurred me until then… to find out what’s happening in the market by asking someone like this installer how things are for them. Now this company installs the majority of credit card terminals. So if he and his colleagues are busy putting these things in, people must be still selling more to the point, people are still opening businesess in this climate.

Opportunities are still out there for us to leverage and benefit from. Don’t believe everything the media tells you… or you will be doomed.
